FORD TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR REPAIRED

8 Steps to Repair a Ford Tire Pressure Sensor

ITEMS REQUIRED:

  1. Ford Tire Pressure Sensor Repair Kit

  2. Torx T10 screwdriver

  3. Tire machine.

Follow these 8 steps if your Ford tire pressure sensor is leaking air and you want to replace the TPMS valve stem.

STEP 1: REMOVE THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FROM THE WHEEL

Remove the tire from the wheel using a tire machine. Remove the tire pressure sensor by unscrewing the Torx T10 screw on the bottom of the tire pressure sensor base. Once this T10 screw is removed, the valve stem can be pulled out of the tire pressure sensor base and removed from the wheel.

STEP 2: UNSCREW THE TORX T10 SCREW FROM THE VALVE STEM

The tire pressure sensor and the tire pressure valve stem are two separate pieces. Once the TPMS sensor has been removed from the wheel, unscrew the Torx T10 size screw from the tire pressure sensor base.

STEP 3: PULL THE VALVE STEM OUT OF THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR BASE

After removing the T10 screw, pull the valve stem out of the base of the tire pressure sensor. Make sure the screw is out all the way otherwise the valve stem will not come out.

STEP 4: REMOVE THE NEW VALVE STEM AND SCREW FROM PACKAGE

The Ford tire pressure sensor repair kit comes with a screw, a new valve stem, and a new valve stem cap

STEP 5: INSERT NEW VALVE STEM INTO FORD TPMS SENSOR BASE

Discard the old valve stem and screw and insert the new valve stem into the Ford tire pressure sensor base. The end of the valve stem has two straight sides and two curved sides. Match the straight sides of the valve stem to the straight sides of the TPMS sensor base. Slide it into place.

STEP 6: TIGHTEN T10 SCREW

After inserting the new valve stem into the Ford tire pressure sensor, screw the new T10 size screw in. Be sure to tighten the screw flush with the base of the TPMS sensor.

STEP 7: PUT REPAIRED FORD TPMS SENSOR BACK INTO WHEEL

Remount the tire pressure sensor back onto the wheel.

STEP 8: FOLLOW FORD TPMS RELEARN PROCEDURE

After repairing your Ford tire pressure sensor and remounting the wheel back onto the vehicle, follow the Ford tire pressure sensor relearn process
