First things first, you need to figure out if you have a tire leak or you are just down a few PSI and your Honda TPMS light was triggered. Follow the three simple steps below to figure this out. (To learn more about Honda TPMS, read here.)
- Fill the tires to the recommended pressure. (2018 Honda CRV front tires are 32 PSI, rear tires are 30 PSI) The recommended tire pressures can be found on the inside of the driver side door panel. This is a highly rated tire pressure gauge.
- Reset the TPMS light in your Honda.
- Drive your Honda for a day or so, and if the TPMS light returns, YOU do have a LEAK.
How to reset your honda tire pressure system (tpms)
After filling the tires to the above pressures, (or whatever pressures the car recommends on the inside of the driver side door panel) look below to the left of the steering wheel for a button that look like ( ! ). (here is a tire pressure gauge) With the car running, hold this button down. The orange TPMS ight on the dashboard will begin to flash. Once it has finished flashing, you can release the button. You have successfully reset your TPMS light on your Honda CRV.
If you have a flashing TPMS light, read here to learn what it could mean.
TIP: No matter what, if you have a TPMS light on any car, the best way to diagnose the problem is to fill the tires to the recommended pressure, then reset/relearn the TPMS for the car, then go for a ride and see if the TPMS light comes back on. If it does come back on you can either find the tire leak, fix it yourself, or bring your car to your local mechanic and explain the problem. To learn more about TPMS, check out this article.
