mercedes cla tpms description

For your safety, the 2018 Mercedes CLA is equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that will cause a low tire pressure light to illuminate when one or more of your tires are significantly underinflated. (to learn more about how TPMS work read here) If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, you should check your tires right away and inflate them to the proper pressure. When a significantly under-inflated tire overheats it can cause tire failure. Under-inflated tires also reduce fuel efficiency and tire tread life. (to learn more about tire tread check this article) This in turn will greatly affect the vehicles handling and braking/stopping ability.

when to perform tpms reset/restart

–>After adjusting tire pressure. (best tire pressure gauge on Amazon)

–>After tire replacement. (best cordless impact wrenches for removing tires) –>After tire rotation. (if the tires are rotated and not reset, the tire pressures may be displayed on the vehicle’s display in the wrong locations) (article on best cordless tire inflators)

types of tpms warning messages

If the TPMS detects a pressure loss in one or more tires the vehicle’s multifunctional display will show a warning message. The yellow tire pressure warning lamp will also light up.

Mercedes CLA has three type of warning messages:

PLEASE CORRECT TIRE PRESSURE : this message appears when the tire pressure in at least one tire is to low. Check tires next time you stop the vehicle.

CHECK TIRE PRESSURE: this message appears when one or more tires PSI has dropped significantly.  Check tire as soon as possible, find a safe place to pull over and check the tires tread and pressure.

TIRE PRESSURE WARNING TIRE FAILURE: this message appears when tire pressure in one or more tires are dropped suddenly. The tires need to be checked immediately.
